This audio slideshow introduces Blackpool Creative Roots: a project to engage residents of the Mereside Estate with the arts and the open and public spaces on the estate. It features photographs from a series of creative workshops run by artists from the Avant-Gardening collective during Summer 2014. We hear from locals and artists about what they would like to see happen on the estate.
We produced this audio-slideshow to serve as a trailer for Creative Roots and for Avant-Gardening’s work more generally. It complements the September 2014 podcast, which provides a fuller introduction to the project and account of the summer workshops. It uses excerpts from that podcast, paired with photographs by Jack Boniface and Rosie Oliver (Tickertape Productions).
Creative Roots Blackpool is led by Paul Green of Avant-Gardening. The project has been commissioned by LeftCoast, one of 21 Creative People and Places programmes supported by Arts Council England.
